Established 2014 - Jason Taulman, founder
Jason Taulman started the Indy Sharks travel baseball program in the fall of 2014 to develop players and to educate them and their parents on the recruiting and scholarship process and more.
The Sharks Baseball Club was founded on the belief that player development, both physical and mental, should be at the foundation of our program. We utilize both off season and in season training balanced with quality competition to hone the skills of our players. All Sharks players receive professional instruction and attention from highly regarded baseball coaches, Bobby Bell and Jason Taulman. They lead our development program utilizing their time-tested teaching methods to help players maximize their potential. Our players learn proper mechanics and how to understand the game. They get supervised repetitions, strength training, and conditioning. Our development program is enhanced by a team atmosphere that allows our players to grow both as individuals and teammates. This is the Sharks' Way.
For the 2019-20 season, the Indy Sharks are fielding seven teams including 12U, 14U, 15U (two teams), 16U, and 17U (two teams).
Former Butler and Ball State pitching coach Jason Taulman offers pitching instruction and overall baseball strength training in Fishers, Carmel, Noblesville and many other communities in the Indianapolis area. His private instruction, group lessons and camps help players of all ages increase velocity and improve control.
Jason began his coaching career spending three seasons as a coach in professional baseball, serving with the Ohio Valley Redcoats of the Frontier League and the Lafayette Leopards of the Heartland League. Later, as pitching coach at Butler University, his pitching staff (which included current Philadelphia Phillies pitcher, and 2014 MLB All-Star Pat Neshek) led the Horizon League in pitching stats in 2001 and 2002. After his first stint at Butler, Taulman went to Ball State University to serve as pitching coach, and subsequently earned a Master’s Degree in Physical Education (Coaching specialization). In 2003, Ball State was the Mid-America Conference West Division Champions. Jason later returned to Butler to coach for the 2006 and 2007 seasons.
Over the years Jason has coached over 30 players who have signed professional contracts and dozens more who have earned college scholarships.
Bobby Bell is currently a minor league hitting coach in the Milwaukee Brewer's organization and spends his off-seasons working with the Sharks and giving lessons in Indianapolis. Previously, he was a minor league coach for many years with the Miami Marlins, working with their top prospects like Giancarlo Stanton, Hanley Ramirez, and Jose Reyes. He also served on the coaching staff and as head coach of John Carroll University. Bobby played baseball at Mesa State College and with the California Angels organization.
John Mallee, the Chicago Cubs hitting coach, says "I have been coaching in professional baseball for 15 years. I have met only a few coaches who can teach hitting as well as Bobby Bell. He can take a good player to the next level. His passion is second to none. He has taught me a lot about hitting!!"
